Mexico has all the ingredients to be 'spearheading' innovation in the electricity sector

The country has the capacity to be part of the countries that are moving towards decarbonization, said Santos Garza.

Mexico has all the necessary technologies to advance in the innovation and transformation of the electricity sector, Santos Garza, global leader of Siemens Energy's Prescriptive Marketing group, said on Tuesday.

"Mexico has all the ingredients to be the 'spearhead' in this innovation and transformation of the sector. Fortunately, the country has (...) all the electricity generation technologies, and the idea is to continue with this trend to be able to produce the electricity that society demands and the economic sector needs," he said at the Energy Innovation Days forum, Transforming the present to ensure the energy future.

As the issue of decarbonization is a priority in different parts of the world, Mexico can easily "be among this group of countries setting the standard," he added at the forum sponsored by Siemens Energy.

He stressed that innovation translates into modernization and investments, which benefit all people, both directly and indirectly related to electricity.

Garza remarked that the generation park in Mexico requires modernization, in addition to reinforcing the transmission network, and for this it is necessary to support the generation assets and match the production of electricity from renewable sources, where the resource exists, with thermal sources.
